What if my country or age isn’t covered?
Select “International / other country” for WHO. We also use WHO when a country’s childhood table does not cover an age. For older ages without adult data, we show an explicitly labeled young-adult benchmark, not a percentile for people your age. The US adult reference uses survey age groups through 80+.
How is the percentile calculated?
For LMS growth charts, we interpolate the published parameters at your age. Croatia and India use published percentile cutoffs interpolated across age and height. France uses three historical adult cutoffs. Bosnia and Herzegovina uses empirical school-sample cutoffs. Serbia is explicitly a normal-model estimate from a student sample’s mean and standard deviation, not observed national percentiles. Within published tables, results interpolate between height cutoffs. Beyond the available cutoffs, a normal curve fitted to the median and the outer cutoff estimates the percentile. Estimates are marked with ≈. All references show a bound only below 0.1 or above 99.99. Decimal places do not imply that level of real-world accuracy.
Country average heights alone cannot establish percentiles: we also need the distribution of individual heights. We do not turn uncertainty about a country’s average into population variation.
How do you estimate the height of the top 1%?
The calculator below supports percentiles from 0.1 through 99.99 and uses the reference’s growth-chart formula or published height cutoffs where available. If a table does not reach the requested percentile, we extend a normal curve fitted to its median and the last available cutoff on that side. For studies with a measured mean and standard deviation, we use those directly. These calculated cutoffs are labeled as estimates and include the math. The estimate still describes the selected reference group; it does not fill gaps in country or age coverage.
This is a reference comparison, not a diagnosis or a growth forecast. Growth patterns over time provide more context than a single percentile.
